Chanida Barrett is an architectural designer who is passionate about sustainable design, social wellbeing, as well as a ‘sense of place’. She completed her Bachelor (Hons) of Architecture from the University of Portsmouth. Later on, achieving a distinction in Master's degree in Architecture (MArch) at the University of Plymouth. During her studies, she received several awards including the RIBA Ken Bingham Research award for the best research design project and the Creative Conscience Awards representing the University of Plymouth as well as a nomination for the RIBA Silver Medal Student Award in 2019.

 

She has been fortunate to practise architecture under the position of Part l Architectural Assistant with Kendall Kingscott Ltd. for a year since 2016 before joining Re-Format LLP as a Part II Architectural Assitant in 2019. Working with both practices closely with senior architects on a range of projects has allowed Chanida to familiarise herself with the RIBA Plan of Work while generating designs that comply with the British Standards and Regulations. Her engagement within the practices has given her the chance to recognise the architect’s role from a more profound perspective which has inspired her to become a fully qualified Architect.

 

During her internship with her family's business residential estate development the Green Field Development Co., Ltd. in Thailand. Chanida was able to experience a wide range of work stages including being involved in the design, construction and interior design processes. Throughout this time, she developed her communication skills with consultants and customers via emails, phone calls and paper translations between Thai and English. Along with recognising the company's key components of standardisation in products, on-time delivery, cost and quality.

 

Chanida is a well organised, responsible and open-minded person, who is adaptable and always seeking to gain new knowledge and challenges. Architecture has continuously been her prime interest as well as art and travelling.
