Experience Wellbeing

Plymouth, one of the UK’s key cities and the most significant urban area in the far south-west region has been facing a number of social, economic, and environmental challenges and issues. The city, especially Millbay area had suffered from high homelessness and crime, which later gained the reputation as a red-light district for more than a century. Life inequalities, high unemployment rate, and lack of healthy community to some extent have consequently led Millbay, Plymouth into an unattractive place.

The project aims to build and reform a healthy resilient community in Millbay. Create a buffer against disease and influence health-related behaviour by providing access to educational support, training and employment to residents as well as visitors. Making a new gathering platform, holiday destination, living and working environment for all. A healthy community will craft a positive sense of identity in the area. Improvement of reputation will potentially attract more visitors and investors, which will encourage diversity and improve the city’s income levels that will lead Millbay to become a dynamic and resilient community.
