Urban Acupuncture
This project takes place in Winchester, a historical city with a high percentage of elderly people, attracted by its beauty and tranquillity. To adopt new scenarios of life without losing important architectural and urban features, an ‘acupuncture’ approach is required to create the connection in a wider area of the city, thus creating a rich and diverse environment that improves the wider urban context.
A sustainable transportation scheme aims to improve all types of movement through the city centre, which to reduce the level of traffic in the city centre and air pollution that causes from private cars and to increase the level of safety and encouraging people to use public transport and cycling. This would also offer the opportunity to create a pedestrian-friendly urban space.
Concept:
1. Sustainable income for elderly, 2. More housing,
3. Learning and improving life quality, and 4. Sustainable transportation
